Sitra
Web 3.0 is the third generation of the internet, a development stage that aims to offer services that enable decentralised decision-making and commerce. Web 3.0 unlocks potentials for the emergence of novel business models and services, but it also requires a shared set of rules.
In autumn 2022, Sitra and Dottir collected views from the industry operators on the state of web 3.0 in Finland as well as on legislative measures aimed at advancing the development.
Based on those discussions with some of Finland's top experts, Dottir and Sitra created seven recommendations to improve business opportunities for web 3.0 companies in Finland.
CapMan Growth
Dottir advised a consortium led by CapMan Growth in their investment in Tana Oy, a Finnish environmental technology company. CapMan made the investment together with Normet Group’s main owner Aaro Cantell and Elo Mutual Pension Insurance Company.
Tana specializes in manufacturing machines and equipment for the mechanical processing of solid waste. The company is a pioneer of using electrical control systems and artificial intelligence solutions in its equipment and has grown in recent years to a global market leader in waste pre-treatment equipment. With this investment, Tana aims for even greater growth.
CapMan Growth is the leading Finnish growth investor making significant minority investments in entrepreneur-led growth companies. This investment marks the first venture of CapMan Growth's new Equity Fund III.
YIT
Dottir advised YIT in their IT outsourcing, resulting in a strategic partnership with Tech Mahindra in which a significant part of YIT’s IT services will be harmonized and consolidated to one dedicated supplier. This high-profile outsourcing case included a full procurement, RFP and negotiation process. The partnership will support YIT's objectives to strengthen digitalisation and data management and improve the company's competitiveness.
YIT is the largest Finnish and a significant North European development and construction company. Tech Mahindra is a leading provider of digital transformation, consulting, and business re-engineering services and solutions.
SEB Greentech Venture Capital
Dottir advised the lead investor, SEB Greentech Venture Capital, in the EUR 5 million financing round of Finnish tech company Collo. The financing round was co-led by SEB and Dutch deep-tech investment firm FORWARD.one, with participation from existing investor, Danish Scale Capital.
"The Dottir team has a strong drive and the ability to find solutions that meet the needs of all parties involved in closing deals," said Mikko Huumo, Investment Manager at SEB Greentech VC.
Collo develops IoT analyzers for controlling and optimizing industrial liquid processes, enabling companies in the food and beverage industry to significantly reduce emissions, water consumption, and waste. The new funding will allow Collo to expand its unique solution globally.
